North West Young Chef

Five young hotshots have made it to the final of the North West Young Chef of the Year championships, sponsored by Essential Cuisine, which will take place at MANCAT on June 2. To get to the final, the five 18-25 year old finalists had to cook a three course meal for two using local north west produce costing up to £25.

The finalists are: Adam Smith, sous chef at Adobe, Manchester; Steven Smith, chef de partie at Farington Lodge Hotel, Farington County, Lancashire; Tom Lee, chef de partie at London Carriage Works, Liverpool, Merseyside; Martin Frickel, chef de partie at Castle Green Hotel, Kendal, Cumbria; and Chris Rawlinson, chef owner of The Red Cat, Chorley, Cheshire.

The Winner will recieve a week long bursary in a top European restaurant, a weekend for two at a luxury hotel and a set of Global Knives.
